Group Tours
The Heritage Center welcomes groups of visitors from a club or class to a coach bus.

- For programs serving public and parochial schools, scouts, families, homeschool groups, and other youth organizations, please contact our Museum Educator, Meredith Reinhart.
Explore Pennsylvania History In-Person With Your Group or Organization
Your visit can be as long or as short as you like. Typically we will provide a group orientation and then allow your group to tour on its own. We recommend planning at least 1-1/2 hours, especially if you desire a barn tour. (Barn tours are a guided 20–30 minute experience.) There is no charge for this type of visit, but we do happily accept donations.

What to Expect on a Group Tour
Our group tours of the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center give visitors access to nationally recognized collections, a fully reconstructed 1826 Pennsylvania barn, and guides who know these stories inside and out. Tours are led by knowledgeable staff and trained docents who adapt the depth and focus of each visit to match your group's interests — whether that's Pennsylvania German fraktur and folk art, agricultural history, genealogy resources, or the Schwenkfelder immigration story.
A standard group tour includes:
- Guided walkthrough of permanent museum exhibits
- Introduction to the fraktur collection and Pennsylvania German material culture
- Guided barn tour featuring the reconstructed 1826 Pennsylvania bank barn and historic farm equipment
- Q&A time with your guide throughout
We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance for groups of 10 or more. Availability is limited, and our guided group tours fill up — especially in spring and fall.

Our research collections draw visitors from across the country, and a guided introduction helps groups understand what's available and how to access it for future visits.

We regularly host senior centers, civic organizations, and community clubs from across Montgomery, Berks, Lehigh, and Bucks counties. Tours move at a comfortable pace and can be adjusted in scope to suit your group's energy and interests. Our barn is a particular highlight for groups who grew up in rural Pennsylvania or have a connection to agricultural heritage.

Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is a natural stop on any Pennsylvania Dutch Country or southeastern PA heritage itinerary. We can coordinate with tour operators on timing, group size, and logistics. If your itinerary includes multiple stops, let us know your time window and we'll build a tour that fits.

The reconstructed 1826 Pennsylvania barn is a featured part of our group tour experience. It's one of the most memorable stops on the property, particularly for groups with ties to rural Pennsylvania history. Barn access is included in standard group tours, weather permitting.
What is the minimum and maximum group size for a guided tour?
We generally accommodate groups of 10 to 50 participants for guided tours. If your group is smaller or larger than that range, contact us directly and we'll work with you on the best approach for your visit.
